The longer I do makeup and travel and work on so many projects there is always something I keep acquiring more of..Makeup Brushes. Whenever, I am working with a model or actress or even a special event I get asked by the talent where do you get your brushes? How do I know what brushes to use? What brush is for what?
Well let me 1st say there is a million brushes out there, a million places to get them at any price point you are wanting to pay. If your on the professional side it is smart to have 3 or 4 brushes of the same kind because if your working on a shoot you may not have time between models or actresses to clean them. If you are looking for something on more of a consumer side to carry around in your own personal makeup bag you have several options.
All makeup brushes are going to be made out of different things like synthetic hair, badger hair, pony hair, and even goat hair. Its going to depend on a personal preference as to which type you may choose. Using makeup brushes is as important for makeup as brushes are to a painter. Each one has its own purpose and does completely different things.
There are a few brushes that I highly recommend especially to start out a brush collection for yourself. So lets talk about a few:
Foundation Brush-These brushes make the difference between a polished flawless face verses a uneven blotchy look. This brush covers all those nooks and crannies around your nose and other hard to blend area's. Also, by using a brush you avoid the oils from your fingers smudging onto your face which can make your foundation not last as long!

Powder Brush- This is good for applying your powder after your foundation. Using this in circular motions will create a finished flawless look as well. Plus it sets your faces and prevents your foundation from moving around. Its smooths out your overall look!

Fan Brush- Fan Brushes has a ton of uses! They can be good for blush if you like to apply to the apple of the cheek, They are great for clean up any excess that drops from your eyes before you finish with your makeup. Its good for blending a heavy eyeshadow or blending a heavy blush application. This is also great for highlighting...add some subtle shimmer to the apples of your cheeks or collar bone.

Tapered Blender Brush- This makes the smoky eye or even the cat eye an easy process. This tapered brush allows you to have precision when putting a shadow into the crease. While blending it out for you as you use a back and forth motion. I have several of these and I don't ever go to a makeup job with out them.
